$84M Class Action Suit Filed Against Kanye West, Jay Z Over Not-So-Exclusive Tidal Album Release

Gavel-clipart-gavel_bwFan are increasingly upset over streaming music exclusives that they see as confusing and unfair. As he often does, Kanye West took the issue to another level when he declared that his album would always only be available on Tidal.

A fan of Kanye West fan is suing the star and and the streaming music service Tidal saying that the falsely lured users into subscriptions based on the promise that it would be the exclusive outlet for his latest album, "The Life Of Pablo." His lawyers are seeking class action status which could bring total damages as high as $84 million.

Kayne nuts"My album will never never be on Apple. And it will never be for sale." tweeted West after the release. "You can only get it on Tidal." Pablo has since been released on Apple Music and on both Spotify's paid and free music services.

"We fully support the right of artists to express themselves freely and creatively, however creative freedom is not a license to mislead the public," Baker-Rhett's attorney Jay Edelson said in a statement. "We believe that we will be able to prove to a jury that Mr. West and Tidal tricked millions of people into subscribing to their services and that they will ultimately be held accountable for what they did."
