Govt Mule Recreate 1999 Live Album With Friends

In 1999, Gov't Mule issued the live album Live... With A Little Help From Our Friends containing portions of the group's December 31, 1998 performance at The Roxy in Atlanta. The band re-created the song sequence of the LP for last night's first show of this year's Island Exodus destination event at Grand Lido Resort in Negril, Jamaica.

The show opened with a bit of The Beatles' "With A Little Help From My Friends," which may have clued attendees in on what was about to go down. From there, Gov't Mule used the Live... With A Little Help From Our Friends tracklist as a guide for the evening's setlist. Guests included Paul Nelson, Ron Holloway, Sonny Landreth, Anders Osborne, Mini Carlsson and Machan Taylor. The latter two, known as The Better Half Singers, helped out on a full cover of "With A Little Help From My Friends" that served as the encore. Other highlights included Anders Osborne helping out on a cover of Neil Young's "Cortez The Killer" as part of the second set.

Island Exodus continues later today in Jamaica.
