Chris Thile To Host A Prairie Home Companion

After guest hosting previously this year, Chris Thile has confirmed that he will replace Garrison Keillor as host of A Prairie Home Companion. Keillor, the show’s current host and creator of the live public radio program recently hinted at Thile being his replacement and the mandolin player has reportedly confirmed his new role.

The Mandolin Cafe reportedly spoke to Thile about A Prairie Home Companion after a recent Punch Brothers gig in Cincinnati, with Thile telling the outlet, "Everything Garrison said is true, and I'm really excited.” The site also reports that Keillor is expected to continue to contribute to the show in a reduced capacity. It’s not clear as of yet when Keillor plans to turn the show over to Thile. Earlier this year Thile, who made his debut on A Prairie Home Companion at age 15, guest-hosted the program for Keillor for two weeks in February.
