Tedeschi Trucks, Sharon Jones & Dap-Kings Cover The Letter

This summer's Wheels Of Soul Tour featuring Tedeschi Trucks Band, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings and Doyle Bramhall II has delivered a number of impressive collaborations. Not only have the tour mates teamed up to cover Sam Cooke, Etta James and Sly & The Family Stone, the most recent show of the tour saw Tedeschi Trucks Band collaborate with Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings on a stand-out rendition of "The Letter."

The first leg of the tour came to a close on Saturday night at The Heights in Huber Heights, Ohio. Towards the end of TTB's set, Susan Tedeschi introduced Jones and the Dap-Kings by saying Sharon has one of the most soulful voices of all-time. The two bands then treated fans to a stirring rendition of The Box Tops #1 hit from 1967 "The Letter" performed in a similar style to Joe Cocker's version of the tune. Sharon and Susan traded off vocals on "The Letter" before Derek Trucks lays down a sizzling solo. Watch fan-shot video of "The Letter" captured by Eliiasmydog:

The next leg of the Wheels Of Soul Tour begins July 10 in The Woodlands, Texas.
